Fans Were Angry at the Band Kings of Leon on Friday Night in St. Louis After the Band Walked Off Stage

What caused the popular band to play only three songs at the Verizon Amphitheatre in St. Louis?

Apparently it was pooping pigeons who just bombarded the band as soon as they got on stage and the boys just couldn't take any more.

Andy Mendelsohn from Vector Management spoke to CNN about the pooping incident:

"Jared (Followill) was hit several times during the first two songs," Mendelsohn said of the band's bassist.

"It's not only disgusting -- it's a toxic health hazard. They really tried to hang in there," Mendelsohn added.

They were first hit during the opening song Closer, but Followill said there was already poop on the carpet and on his pedal when they walked on stage; he describes himself as a 'germophobe'. Followill was hit in the face, then the arms.

"I was hit by pigeons on each of the first three songs," he said. "We had 20 songs on the set list. By the end of the show, I would have been covered from head to toe."

The opening bands The Postelles and The Stills also apparently got hit by excrement, but they did not walk off the stage in the middle of their set.

"We couldn't believe what The Postelles and The Stills looked like after their sets," Followill said. "We didn't want to cancel the show, so we went for it. We tried to play. It was ridiculous."

The band have said they want to apologize to their fans and will come back to St. Louis as soon as they can.

Fans were angry about the abrupt end however and yelled boos towards the stage as the lights came back on after only three songs.
