Kristen Stewart & Dakota Fanning Attend Joan Jett Gig At Sundance

The Runaways co-stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning joined Joan Jett and the Blackhearts on stage this weekend in celebration of the premiere of their new film. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts played a gig at Harry O's in Park City, Utah during the opening weekend of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival as part of a celebration for the film's opening the following day. Stewart and Fanning went up on stage at Harry O's for a thank you from Joan Jett for all of the efforts involved in the upcoming film portraying the life and times of her 70s rock band.

Stewart and Fanning shyly took to the stage momentarily which resulted in a fan frenzy in the audience. Jett thanked both the actresses and The Runaways director, Floria Sigismondi, for all of their hard work in accurately depicting her band in the new biopic. Both Stewart (who plays Joan Jett in the film) and Fanning (who plays Runaways band mate Cheri Currie) did not sing or play any instruments on stage but they did make an appearance when Jett asked them to come up on stage. Jett had this to say about her appreciation for the hard work of those involved in The Runaways film:

"I thanked everybody really involved with this whole project, helping it come to the big screen," Joan told MTV News of her speech before the concert. "At a later point, I wanted to acknowledge Dakota and Kristen. I brought the two of them and Cherie onto the stage to just wave to everybody. There was no singing, dancing or playing or anything."

Stewart, whose fame has risen considerably since her last trip to Sundance, has noted that while she gets recognized everywhere, she's happy to be there with her co-stars: "The coolest thing about Sundance is coming back and seeing the people you made the movies with," she said. "Everyone on 'The Runaways,' we became really close. Me and Dakota are really close. I love that she can see [my other Sundance film 'Welcome to the Rileys'] with me."

Stewart joined Jett on stage clad in ripped skinny jeans and a dark hoody while Fanning donned a sleek tank top and heels. Jett was clad in a one-piece sequined outfit paired with sneakers. Stewart and Fanning quickly waved and smiled at the audience while Jett conveyed her thanks. Joan Jett was in attendance at the premiere of The Runaways film to support Stewart and her co-star Dakota Fanning. Jett was joined by fellow Runaways band-mate Cheri Currie at the premiere. The celebrations continued at the Bing Bar! for the film's after party where the real-life band mates and their film-version successors stuck close together and enjoyed each others company as they greeted party-goers.
