Acress Kristen Stewart of Twilight fame has been offered a role in the upcoming live action remake of "Akira". The original 1980's movie was done by Katsuhiro Otomo. This new film will be a two part release. The first one is set to come out in 2013.

It is currently unknown what roll Stewart was offered for the movie. Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham Carter are other actors rumored to be attached to the project. The original anime was done in 1988 has been a cult hit outside of Japan and a box office hit in. At the time of release it was praised for bringing high quality animation outside of a Disney production which was rare.
