Laurence Fishburne quits TV show “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”
After only two seasons on the CBS forensic investigation drama “CSI,” Laurence Fishburne has quit his starring role on the show
Fishburne, 49, plays former pathologist Raymond Langston on the worldwide hit TV show. The Hollywood Reporter released on Wednesday that the actor has opted not to renew his contract for the show’s 12th season, which is slated to premier next September.
Fishburne is a Tony- and Emmy-award winning actor that joined the cast of the TV show in the middle of the 2008-2009 season, replacing the original main actor William Peterson.
“CSI” once was the biggest hit show on TV. However, the how only had 13 million viewers, which is a significant drop from the 17.6 million viewers from the first episode after Peterson’s departure. CBS has yet to announce who will take Fishburne’s place.
Deadline.com has reported that Fishburne is expected to resume his film career full time. He will appear in the film “Contagion” this October.
