Two students, Leslie Pope of Moravian College and John Wagner, a Lehigh graduate were brought to the Bethlehem Police Office for refusing to pay a manditory tip. They refused to pay the 18% service fee for the bad servace that they received during happy hour at Lehigh Pub.
The group reportedly waited longer than one hour for salad and wings, refilled their drinks themselves at the bar and found their own napkins and silverware as the waitress smoked outside.
There bill was $73.86 and the tip requested was $16.35.
They ended up in jail for the $16.35 tip.
The students were with six friends at the pub, which charges an automatic 18 percent gratuity for parties of six or more.
