Lena Horne's Funeral Was Held May 14 at St. Ignatius Loyola in New York's Upper East Side

Friends and family gathered to say goodbye and pay their respects to the famous jazz singer and actress Lena Horne, who died Sunday May 9 at the age of 92.

Among some of the attendees were former New York Mayor David Dinkins, Governor David Petterson, B. Michael, Dionne Warwick, Walter Mosley and Vanessa Williams. Audra McDonald, the Broadway star sung Amazing Grace over Lena Horne's casket.

Actress Jenny Lumet said a few words about Lena Horne:

Horne "was so many ideas existing all at the same time in the same space and they were all conflicting and they were all true," Lumet said."I've tried to sum her up and I can't sum her up; summing up really means it's over and I think that she's not over and that she's quite infinite."

While she was remembered for being a fantastic singer and actress, she was also fondly remembered as a girl from Brooklyn who overcame hardship and racism to become one of the most famous African-Americans in the United States.

It is thought by many that she paved the way for African-American performers in Hollywood as she was one of few to hold a contract with a major Hollywood studio.

Horne, noted for her seductive voice, captivated audiences with hits like "My Blue Heaven" and her signature song "Stormy Weather".

Thousands of people lined the streets and waiting outside the church to pay their respects to the late entertainer and hopefully let her know how much her experience and her life touched their lives.

Goodbye, dear Lena. Your stormy weather days are over; bright sunshine and eternal happiness is yours now. All of us (your life-long fans) will miss you. Heaven is gaining a Star of gigantic proportions.

Thanks Amy! Lena was a great talent. I had the pleasure of meeting her in the 80s and doing some piano tuning for her at the time.
