Levi Johnston's Mom Sherry Johnston Pleads Guilty to Drug Charges
Sherry Johnston, mother of Bristol Palin's ex-fiance Levi Johnston, pleaded guilty yesterday to possessing and intending to deliver the prescription painkiller OxyContin. The 42-year-old was charged with 6 drug-related felonies and was arrested in December, and was released with $5000 for bail.
Levi Johnston was notably absent from his mother`s hearing, but Mercede Johnston, his younger sister, did attend.
Sherry Johnston is reportedly staying at Hiland Mountain Correction Center while she awaits sentencing in November. Johnston could receive 20 years in prison, however lawyer Rex Butler and prosecutors have agreed to a much shorter sentence of 5 years imprisonment and 2 years suspension because Johnston carried what was reportedly a small quantity of the drug.
Assistant District Attorney Rick Allen said it's not unusual for defendants with mitigating factors like Johnston's to get half the minimum sentence.
Bristol Palin called off the wedding with Levi Johnston in December after their son Tripp was born.
