Liam Gallagher, of the Noel's brother variety, announced that his new band is set and ready to hit the studio but they have still not yet come up with a name and, unless they do, Gallagher has every intention of re-using 'Oasis'.

"We're not using it [the Oasis name] at the moment, but if we don't come up with something else by the time we're ready to release the album it'll be Oasis. I'm not going to call myself something ridiculous just for the sake of it."

Gallagher's latest musical endeavour includes the likes of Gem Archer and Andy Bell, both alumni of Liam's family band, Oasis, the original one. The yet-to-be-named band's album is expected to be released sometime next year; "We're halfway there. We've got all the songs done," Gallagher said. With studio time booked following Christmas, Liam and the band have no intentions of lollygagging, as Gallagher put it, "we're going to get in there, do it quick, with no stewing on it."

Not shockingly, Liam's brother, Noel, will not be included on the band's roster. Liam went on a tirade about his brother saying, "I'm sure he thinks, 'I'll do my solo career and if it doesn't fucking pan out the way it's expected I'll give our kid a ring because he'll be desperate and he'll do anything for Oasis." Oh, but that's not all, he went on saying,
"Well, I'll say this right now: he's got another fucking thing coming. If he thinks he can ring me up at any given stage in his fucking lifetime, I'll be busy. I'll always be busy when he rings me up."

No clue on what the new band's sound will be but judging from Liam's opinion of Noel, not much will change.
