I was having a funny conversation with my daughter recently about the ever changing size, shape and consistency of our breasts. She's lost a few pounds (maybe 5, couldn't afford to lose more without looking anorexic) recently from bike riding now that spring is upon us, and was marvelling at how much her breast had shrunk from a C cup to almost an A! She is not too impressed!

Both of us carry any weight in the "Boo-tay" area, even when I was a size three I "got back", any weight loss in either of us only seems to shrink our breasts, and never the places we really would love to lose a few inches.......Oh irony, oh genes, how you taunt us!

I recall being an A cup, I was mostly an A from age 11 to about 28 years old, (looked like eggs sunny side up)...well with the exception of the time I was breast-feeding; then they were so big I could have served hors d'oeuvres on them! But as soon as I stopped breast-feeding they once again became small, but also much saggier, oh joy of joys. But since my late 20's I've been a D-DD - probably because I'm a bit chubby since that time, wait let change "chubby" to "curvy", ahhhh, much better!

The size of breast can even vary throughout the month even; some friends of mine go up 2 cup sized pre-menses! Mine swell & boy - do they ever ache! Now also with the advent of peri-menopause, a slight reduction in estrogen has also caused the loss of breast mass. Charming, right? It's like a cruel joke Mother Nature plays on us.

So all this growing, shrinking, stretching... it takes invariably a large toll eventually on the perkiness and appearance of the typical 40+ year old Boob and caused me to have a creative moment, so please enjoy my illustration depicting the "Life Cycle of a Boob!" – Because sometimes, you just have to laugh! (I'm no artist! So be nice about my drawing skills! pls.)
