Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty To Gun Charge Faces Up To 8 Months In Jail

Lil Wayne will be going to jail for one year following a plea bargain on a weapons possession charge. Weezy could have gone to jail from 2009 until at least the middle of 2013 if the case had gone to trial, but now Lil Wayne will be free by the end of 2010.

The rapper would have faced more serious gun possession charges if the case had gone to trial, as well as a maximum 15-year prison sentence, a spokeswoman at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office said.
"Wayne decided that this was what he wanted to do. I think he had made the decision some time ago and there were discussions [with members of his posse]," the legal eagle said.

Previously: Will Lil Wayne go to jail? Lil Wayne is expected to accept 8 months in jail over the weapons possession case in 2007, according to AllHipHop.com. A DNA testing technique called low copy DNA profiling could be used against him. Lil Wayne will reportedly announce his decision tomorrow at another court hearing.

Cash Money Records superstar Lil Wayne was allegedly involved with a loaded .40 caliber gun found on his tour bus in 2007 in New York.

Wayne is rumored to be willing to accept the deal to avoid a long term in jail over the gun. The same source said the term will begin in February of 2010 under the terms of the deal. "If he doesn't plead, he goes to jail for a long time," the source said.

Low copy DNA profiling technique only requires a minuscule amount of DNA sample, roughly 16 human cells. The technique may identify Lil Wayne if he indeed possessed the gun. Some experts say it is prone to contamination, therefore yield questionable results.

okay, i think its stupis that LIL WAYNE has to go to jail. Hes the BEST rapper alive, this means there won't be no music from him for a year. I think they should just free him, its not like he was gunna kill anybody forreal i mean jeeze. He might have a bad rep, but you should TRY to find the good in most people. But i think he shouldn't be put in dang jail.
