Warrant Issued for Lil Wayne in Arizona While He is in New York Jail
Lil Wayne, aka Dwayne Carter, is currently serving a one year jail term in New York for having a loaded gun on a tour bus, however at the same time that he was already serving time a bench warrant was issued in Arizona as Lil Wayne failed to appear in court there.
He is charged with drug and weapons charges in Arizona and he was due in an Arizona court on Tuesday morning for a final trial management conference according to ABC News.
However, Lil Wayne's attorney said that his client couldn't appear in court because he was already in jail. The warrant has to be dismissed.
Lil Wayne could be in jail for just eight months and he is serving his sentence at the Eric M. Taylor Center at Rikers Island. He is prisoner number 3491003868 in the NY State Prisoner Lookup. All he has to do is stay out of trouble in prison and behave himself and he not have to serve the full year.
At this point it is unsure of what will happen to the charges he is facing in Arizona; they may have to be postponed until he is released from jail.
Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter III" was the best-selling album of 2008 and won a Grammy for best rap album. His latest album, "Rebirth," was released last month.
