Lina Morgana Was the Inspiration For Lady Gaga and Now Mom Yana Morgana Wants Gaga to Acknowledge Her Late Daughter's Influence

Yana Morgana spoke exclusively to the New York Post and said her daughter Lina who committed suicide when she was 19-years-old, was the inspiration behind Lady Gaga's rise to fame.

Lina Morgana recorded about a dozen songs with Stefani Germanotta, now known as Lady Gaga, and Yana is seeking the rights to release the songs for the world to hear. She also wants Gaga to open up about how Lina's 'dark, edgy style' was the backbone to Gaga's now famous style.

"I'm doing this because I want to keep her spirit alive," Yana, 41, told The Post. "Lady Gaga is holding Lina's soul, and I want her soul to be free."

As a post on Lina Morgana's website states, Rob Fusari, a music producer, described Lina as "one of the talented ones that was taken from us all too soon."

The Post reports that Fusari introduced Gaga and Lina in 2007 in the hopes that the two could work together and generate some hit music.

"Lina had a hard life because we emigrated from Russia. People would make fun of her because she was different, her mom was a single mom," said Yana, who claims Gaga even adopted the dark aspects of Lina's persona.

"Every other word she says is from Lina. She talks about having a dark and tragic life, but she had everything she wanted in the world. She went to [the same] high school as Nicky Hilton, her parents were rich. But Lina did have a tough life, and she often talked about her tragic life," Yana said.

Lady Gaga apparently wrote some songs for Lina who recorded them, and then the two recorded some songs together. The songs were never released however, and that is why Yana wants them to be released now.

She is convinced that her daughter inspired almost everything about Lady Gaga and said that Gaga changed dramatically to try to emulate her daughter 'almost overnight'.

Lina Morgana jumped to her death from a 10-storey building in October 2008 and about one month later, Yana says Lady Gaga appeared on the scene and rose very quickly to world-wide fame.

Even an ex-boyfriend of Lina's, Tyler Schwab, said when he first saw a Gaga video, he recognized the style immediately.

"It was the same style, the same look, the same music, the same voice, the same jaw line -- the way they expressed themselves," said Schwab. "And I was like, 'Is that Lina?' It was so, so shocking. It was like looking at a ghost."

Lady Gaga has not commented on the story and no one at her record company Interscope Records have released a statement at the time of publication.
