Welcome to ‘The Lit Chick Corner.’ (LCC). This weekly column is dedicated to all those hardworking, and often unrewarded, authors who are promoting their work. So be it fiction or non-fiction, the aim of this column is to introduce the public to some of the writing available outside the traditional publishing arena.

Coming soon, watch out for ‘The Lit Chick Show’ (LCS) - a blog that will be run as a virtual TV show, featuring interviews and commentary on authors and their work.

Disclaimer: LCC and LCS do not review nor endorse any books. We simply provide a platform for authors to showcase their work.

This week, LCC presents author Cynthia Vespia and her book Life, Death, and Back. Vespia’s love of writing developed at an early age. “I'm a writer first and foremost”, Vespia said. “The majority of my work has been developing editorial content for magazines and marketing campaigns for major companies.” As Vespia got older her passion for creating worlds and characters developed to a point where she knew she wanted to pursue her passion for writing novels as a career.

Life, Death, and Back weaves together a tapestry from life to death and back again. In the wake of his death Bryan Caleb begins to realize how precious living is and how much he has taken for granted. Now he has unfinished business. In exchange for more time on Earth, Bryan has been granted guardianship. Even as he struggles with his own mortality Bryan must find the compassion within himself to help guide Lisa Zane, an emotionally and spiritually drained young girl, through her troubled life to find her true purpose. For it is only with Lisa's help that Bryan can rescue his very own son from the life of crime he has fallen into before Kriticos Caleb's fate mirrors his father's...in death.

Vespia told LCC about what inspired her to write this paranormal thriller. “The idea to write Life, Death, and Back came from a need to delve into the mysteries of death and the afterlife. At an early age I had to overcome some tough losses in my immediate family. Dealing with such tragedy sticks with you; it becomes part of your soul, and is probably reflective in this story. The novel is a fast-paced thrill ride that asks and answers a lot of questions. How will we be remembered? Who will we leave behind? What is our legacy? And most importantly, how can we make a difference while we still live? Not often in life do we get second chances. We make our mistakes and must continue on; hopefully a little wiser, having learned from the experience.”

Vespia added,“Life, Death, and Back was written in the spirit of all classic thrillers and suspense novels, but it carries with it crossover appeal. The phenomenon of ghosts and angels is a widely discussed topic. There are many who have seen and experienced things not completely explainable. This novel is intended for them as well.”

So what’s next for this talented young writer? “I'm developing some new exciting projects. A thriller set in the rich history of Japan and a spy series with a unique twist.”
