This week, Lit Chick Corner is honoured to talk with American author and radio station owner, Lillian Sara Cauldwell.

Cauldwell owns and operates an Internet talk radio station, Passionate World Radio, Inc (PWR). PWR is based on three principles: market and promote published mid-list and unknown authors; provide a conduit for voices not otherwise heard; and educate and enlighten the listener so they can use the information immediately in their personal, business, and spiritual life.

Cauldwell is also an author. She writes multi-cultural paranormal mysteries for teens from ages 9 to 16 years, The Anna Mae Mysteries. She wrote one non-fiction book, Teenagers! A Bewildered Parent's Guide, in 1994, which 13 years later won two distinguished awards from Parenting/Teen groups.

How did such a dynamic woman accomplish all of this when she had certain obstacles to overcome? “I started writing after being diagnosed with systemic lupus. Being allergic to the sun meant I had to stay indoors during the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. So I wrote my first non-fiction book in 1994, Teenagers! A Bewildered Parent's Guide. The book did fairly well, selling over 5,000 copies. Thirteen years later, Teenagers! won two awards from two separate Parenting Groups. My former editor told me I was good in writing fiction, and I should write fiction. I took his advice and my first fiction book was Sacred Honor, an historical science fiction set against the backdrop of the early stages of The American Revolution in 1774 and a future world, 2074, about to be changed by Count Rumford, better known as Benjamin Thompson. Sacred Honor was released in 2003. In 2008, I wrote my second novel, The Anna Mae Mysteries: The Golden Treasure. Three sneakered sleuths find Jefferson Davis' lost gold treasure with help from a Black fist and divining rods. The second book in the series, The Anna Mae Mysteries: The Seven Keys of Solomon, will be released in 2011. The third book in the series, The Anna Mae Mysteries: The Lost Book of Codices is being worked on,” Cauldwell explains.

Wow! Talk about vigorous and energetic. So what is Cauldwell up to when she isn’t typing away at her keyboard? “When I'm not writing, I operate my radio station, PWR, which works with published indie and self-published authors and other unknowns to the media and to the world.”

With so much going on in her life, LCC asked why Cauldwell became a writer. “I chose to become a writer at the urging of my husband, my editor, and because it was something I wanted to do. To prove to myself that I could write a good story and entertain my target audience, and have them come back asking for more.”

And are they asking for more? They sure are, especially as book sales go up and Cauldwell is busy, busy, busy writing away and inventing more mysteries for the Anna Mae Series.

What about future writing plans? “Continuing The Anna Mae Mysteries, working on a horror thriller book set in Central Mexico, another mystery series, and writing plays. My plays are black comedies or theatre of the absurd. This format allows me to tackle the topics most of society wants to avoid. I can write the plays in a way that the audience identifies, laughs and cries without taking too much umbrage, I hope.”
