Barbora is the name of this 12' brushed stainless steel sculpture that has appeared in Thornton Park across the lane from Pacific Central Station near the Main Street Skytrain terminal in midtown Vancouver.

It is here as a part of the Vancouver Biennale and it is the second sculpture - of many, many more to come - to be installed as a part of the 2009 - 2011 exhibition of sculpture, new media and performance art in public spaces throughout Vancouver.

The Vancouver Biennale hopes that it can engage people - locals, tourists, travelers of all kinds - in an ongoing conversation about public space, art and how we interact and interpret it.

I'll keep you posted on when more of these pieces are dropping in Vancouver so that you can have a chance to check them out and interact with them yourself.
