India vs Pakistan second T20 match set to be played in Ahmadabad is going to be a very hotly contested match. To be true, the way first match moulded in the final overs gives a fairly reasonable idea as to how hot the series is going to be. When it comes to India and Pakistan match, no team is expected to give up and both work till the end.
The killer instinct comes to the fore when it comes to two neighbours who have never been experienced good neighbourly relations in the 65 year long history of them living side by side. They have fought wars, remained involved in covert wars against each other and have done everything to unsettle the governments on both sides of the border. This warring instinct is always visible on cricket field when both the sides take on each other with willows and not with guns. So though they might be playing against each other the war like euphoria takes over both the nations and when they win every match looks like a mini war being won.
Though in the last decade, due to increased cricket match that the two sides played, their matches started looking like normal matches, things have once again come back to old days.
Pakistani team seems to be much more balanced than the Indian team. It is an altogether different thing that the Indian side gave a tough fight in the final overs and the match became a tough one before Pakistan finally clinched it. There is no real fast bowler in the Indian side and UP pace-man Bhuvneshwar Kumar who had a dream start of the match as he picked all the first three wickets in his first two overs, he succeeded more because of the sense of surprise as when Pakistani batsmen settled at the crease, he failed to take any more wickets. But he should be given credit for giving his side major breakthrough very early in the match. He snatched every advantage Pakistan had when 3 wickets fell for as little as 13 runs and every wicket was taken by this debutant paceman.
Other than him, there was no one who could force batsmen on the back-foot. Pakistani skipper Muhammad Hafeez and Shoaib, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza’s husband played great knocks and proved that while the same pitch looked unplayable for the India side, but the pitch was not that bad.
Pakistan’s bowling looked more disciplined that anything that India had. Their pacers were very effective and so were their spinners. Irfan, the 7.1 inch giant of a bowler was very impressive and so was Shahid Afridi, the indefatigable Pakistani all rounder who has become a very dependable bowler who is impressive in all formats of the game. Similarly impressive was Umar Gul who is a very impressive finisher of the match for his side. And Saeed Ajmal is a bowler who performs for his side in every circumstances and every where.
But India have every reason to assure themselves that they can make a comeback. Despite all their strengths, we have seen how Pakistani team fails in pressure. If Indian batsmen could give some bigger total of around 170 runs, their inexperienced bowlers will have something to defend. Small totals are many a times impossible for very experienced bowlers to defend too.
