Live Cricket Streaming: Bangladesh vs West Indies 2012 1st ODI
After two Tests against West Indies that taught Bangladesh many lessons, the hosts can look forward to a format they are more comfortable at. Their previous ODI assignment was the Asia Cup in March, when they finished runners-up ahead of India and Sri Lanka by losing a close-run final to Pakistan. Bangladesh's memories of that tournament will still be fresh and some of their batsmen are in good touch leading into the five-match series.
That's where the positives end for Mushfiqur Rahim's team. Their bowling attack will be severely tested by the absence of their best bowler - Shakib Al Hasan - due to injury and by the new fielding restrictions, which allows only four men outside the 30-yard circle during non-Powerplay overs. Their spinners will have to cope quickly with the reduced protection in the boundary.
West Indies are also wary of the new rules, but they have more ammunition to take advantage of the fielding restrictions, and even use the two bouncers per over more effectively. The visitors have the momentum from the 2-0 win in the Test series and they were boosted by the arrival of Kieron Pollard, who was named vice-captain for the series.
