This has been England's day. After losing Cook cheaply, Compton and Trott shared a 210 run stand for the second wicket. Both Compton and Trott went past their centuries before Bruce Martin snapped up Compton. Trott continued with his merry ways while Pietersen just about hung in there until the close. It has been a day of toil for New Zealand on a benign pitch and they have a lot of hard work tomorrow.
