Olympics Women's Beach Volleyball semi-finals event takes place on Tuesday, August 9th.

The semifinal matches in the women’s beach volleyball tournament at the London 2012 Olympics feature four powerhouse teams battling for a chance at a spot in the gold-medal match.

The four teams remaining are the four highest-ranked duos in the world, ensuring that both contests will be thrilling events.

Americans Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh beat the Chinese team of Xue Chen and Zhang Xi in two sets so far. Following that match, April Ross and Jen Kessy—the other United States representatives—will face top-ranked Larissa and Juliana from Brazil.

Women's Beach Volleyball Semifinals Scores

USA Team Ava Ross and Jennifer Kessy beat Brazilian team Larissa Franca and Juliana Silva 1-2.

The other USA Team, Misty May-Treanor and Kerry Walsh-Jennings beat Chen Xue and Zi Zhan in their match 2-0.

The two USA teams will compete in the Gold Match on Wednesday, August 8 in the Finals.

The Americans have a long history of success on their side and come into the semifinals as the most widely accomplished women's volleyball team in history. They have beaten the Chinese duo before.
