Louis "Cohen" Kerzner by Ace Preston

Louis Kerzner, real name Cohen, was considered a minor gangster, born only with a brainstem. 

After murdering Nathan "Kid Dropper" Caplin" on orders from Murder Inc.'s Lepke Bulchalter, he asked for a cigarette from the arresting officer.

After serving a prison sentence from 1923 to 1937, upon his release he felt important while speaking to authority figures. He continued to open up his big mouth by bragging to authorities about information linking Lepke Bulchalter to Murder Inc. He was gunned down in 1939 prior to being able to testify against Lepke. 

Kerzner more or less was in the same undisciplined category as Vince "Mad Dog" Coll and Francis "Two Gun" Crowley and is labeled as the first of the 'rogue gangsters', which years later, a combination of Crazy Joe Gallo and Sam Gravano would resemble. 

These types of criminals were not bound by loyalty of the Omertà Code nor the honor of the Society of the Black Hand being of a different race and religion, therefore they ceased to exist thus clearing the way for the extinction of their kind which set the precedence for the creation of the Sicilian 5 families.. thus eliminating jews, irish, and other slavic races from the formula of organized crime throughout the 1950's-70's.

Kerzner clearly lived a reckless life but his tombstone reads "Dear Son, Beloved Husband and Father"..which meant that somebody actually cared about the little punk. 

Also keep in mind that the orders to kill Kid Dropper in 1923 outside a Manhattan courthouse came from Jacob "Little Augie" Orgen, another midget organized crime figure, in order to gain control of the labor rackets. 

Little Augie himself was shot to death on a Manhattan Street corner at Norfolk and Delancey Street in 1927 by Lepke Buchalter and Jacob (Gurrah) Shaprio, who themselves took over all of his rackets. 

Orgen's bodyguard when he was murdered was mobster John "Legs" Diamond who was also shot but survived only to be murdered by the Dutch Schultz gang in 1931. He had previous survived 4 previous attempts on his life. In the bootlegging era of 1920 no other gangster except Legs Diamond survived more bullet wounds. Legs was known as "The Clay Pigeon of the Underworld".

Jacob "Gurrah" Shapiro who was one of the most feared Labor Racketeers in New York City and Lepke Buchalter's partner during the 1920s and 1930s died of natural causes in Sing-Sing prison on June 9, 1947.

He got the nickname "Gurrah" during his childhood when he tried to rob pushcarts in his Jewish neighborhood and the pushcart owners would shout "Gurra da here" (get out of here) at him.

As far as Jacob Orgen is concerned a lot of people confuse him with gangster brothers Herman "Hyman" Amberg, Louis "Pretty" Amberg, and Joseph Amberg, who were considered the most feared gangsters in NYC during the 1920' and 30's. 

Herman was arrested for the murder of a Brooklyn jeweler in 1926 and while awaiting trail in the tombs jail in Manhattan on November 3, he and another model prisoner armed with guns attempted to escape but only got as far as the prison wall where they were trapped by guards. They then shot themselves in the head.

Joseph Amberg on September 30, 1935, along with one of his henchmen, Morris Kessler, were lined-up against the wall of an auto repair garage in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn and shot to death by three gunmen of "Murder, Inc".

Louis "Pretty" Amberg on October 23, 1935 (the same day gangster Dutch Schultz was murdered) his body was found in a burning car in Brooklyn. He was killed with an ax and a shotgun blast, put in a car and set on fire. The murder contract was carried out by Abe Reles and his men in "Murder Inc". 

In the end, the four interconnected, Manischewitz drinking hoodlums, (Lepke Bulchalter, Nathan "Kid Dropper" Caplin, Mendy Weiss, and Louis "Cohen" Kerzner) are all buried at Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Even Waxey Gordon (Irving Wexler), Abraham Landau, and Meyer Goldstein (Martin "Buggsy" Goldstein) are also buried there.. unfortunately one day they will be joined by Barbra Streisand who purchased a plot in the very same cemetery.

Eternal damnation will resinate to the souls entombed at Mount Hebron for there is no greater torture to mankind then Streisand fans singing "Evergreen" or "You don't bring me flowers anymore" or playing "What's Up Doc, "Yental", or "Meet the Folkers" on their iPods and laptops while visiting the gravesite.
