On Saturday, December 13th, the spirit of Christmas giving will be evident in a big way as two Lutheran churches offer holiday gifts and much-needed items to local families devastated by Hurricane Ike.

Set to take place at 10:30am on the grounds of First Lutheran Church, 2415 Winnie, Killeen's Emmanuel Lutheran Church will arrive with a large tractor trailer filled with Christmas trees, decorations, house wares and essential items. At the same time, congregant Lucy Thomas of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Ames, Iowa, will present 23 beautifully-restored bicycles (and helmets) - sure to make the perfect Christmas present for several deserving Galveston youngsters.

"We are so grateful for this generous outpouring of gifts, love, and concern expressed by the members of these two fine churches," noted Doug Guthier, Pastor of First Lutheran Church.

All items will be available "first-come, first-served." For more information, call the church office at 409.762.8477.
