Macaulay Culkin stepped out in New York yesterday looking extremely thin and scruffy in exclusive photos obtained by ET that are likely to spark rumors about the former child star's health.

Culkin, 31, also posed for a photo with a fan on the street and can be seen holding a can of Red Bull.

Personally, Culkin has looked worse, like when he dressed in drag or inhaled gobs of smoke.

The star rose to fame playing the adorable eight-year-old child Kevin McCallister in the hugely successful Home Alone films. But his career as a child star later became overshadowed by a highly-publicized dispute with his parents, whom he sued amid allegations that they had mishandled his fortune.

Macaulay endured troubled times following his success as a child star.

He became embroiled in a bitter dispute with his own parents, 'divorcing' and suing them for not handling his movie earnings correctly. He won the case in 1998, with the judge firing his dad Christopher Culkin and mom Patricia Brentup and assigning the family's accountant to take charge of his fortune until he turned 18. That same year, Macaulay married his childhood sweetheart Rachel Miner – but the couple divorced four years later. In 2002, he embarked on a relationship with actress Mila Kunis which lasted eight years.

Two years later he was arrested in Oklahoma City for possession of marijuana and two controlled substances. And his tense testimony at Michael Jackson's child molestation trial the year after. There were even claims that Culkin fathered the King of Pop's youngest son, Blanket.

Tragedy struck in 2008, when Macaulay's sister Dakota died after being hit by a car in Los Angeles.

But we haven't heard much from the once promising actor since January 2011. You remember -- that's when he was spied leaving a Barcelona sex club accompanied by a Spanish adult film star.

Culkin is rumored to be starring in the British film Service Man -- described as an uplifting military action flick -- set for release in 2013.
