Macy's to become a street in New York

The man who founded what is possibly the best department store in the world could get a street in New York named after him. Alas, only for a month.
I wonder, will the maps have to be changed to include the new 'Macy's' street.

On Thursday night, Community Board 5 unanimously approved the temporary installation of a street sign dubbing the block of 34th Street occupied by the Macy’s flagship store “R. H. Macy Way.” The resolution, which now goes to the City Council for a final decision, calls for the sign to remain up only from Oct. 15 through Nov. 15. (Most honorary street renamings, like Jerry Orbach Way, have been permanent.)

That means it would be up for the Oct. 28 celebration of the retailer Rowland Hussey Macy’s 150th birthday but would come down a week before the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

good stuff:

amyjudd, I like this story. It's good stuff. For that duration, it's picture taking time! Too bad I won't be able to see it for myself.

If it were "William H. Macy Way", then maybe.
