It seems that AMC's hit show Mad Men will see a delay for its 5th season, which was projected to start in the summer as it has in years past. The cause are prolonged deal negotiations between Lionsgate, the production studio, and series creator Matthew Weiner against AMC.

Usually the show begins filming in April or May, but apparently the writing staff hasn't even begun to pen the new episodes. As reported, the entire staff is on hold as Lionsgate and Weiner are trying to negotiate a deal which will land them more money for their work on the acclaimed television series. This means a likely delay for its usual season premiere in July.

Actor Jon Hamm, who plays the lead character Don Draper on the show, recently commented that the program was in "limbo". The cause is that the "writers' room is not in place" for the next season.

The show, which has been very successful with critics, has not been a ratings grabber. This has likely made penning a contract difficult as the show is important but does pad AMC's bottom line as some of their other programing does.
