Madonna Faints On Stage In Sofia: Exhaustion To Blame
American singer Madonna had fainted two times on stage during her concert in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Saturday, August 29. Video shot by a fan at the concert shows Madonna temporarily passing out during her rendition of "Holiday." One of her dancers had to hold the singer up, tapping on her shoulder to see if she was indeed alright. Madonna regained consciousness within seconds and went ahead to finish the concert. She has than fainted the second time around when she left the stage after singing "Spanish Lesson." There are speculations that Madonna is suffering from exhaustion and anemia.
“Madonna was really worried backstage. She had to sit down for a longer break than usual between songs. She refused to end the show after the Holiday dizzy spell. It turns out she is suffering from exhaustion. She is anaemic,” a source told The Sun.
The singer just finished her lengthy "Sticky & Sweet" world tour, which started back in August of 2008. The tour took Madonna through 32 countries and had her perform to a crowd of 3.5 million fans. That is one grand undertaking even for a such a hardworking artist as Madonna. Luckily the tour is now over, so Madonna might be able to afford taking a break to finally take care of herself. Madonna's last concert of the tour took place on September 2 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The source added: “She was advised to postpone the last two shows in Israel for a few days, but logistics and stubbornness stopped her. She’ll do them then take some rest.”
