This is the town I went to high school in, and it's 60 miles south of where I just moved from. I knew Patricia Haggard.
REDDING, Calif. -- A 63-year-old man is dead after shooting three people, one fatally, burning his estranged girlfriend and then shooting himself with a .357-magnum revolver. Redding Police Captain Peter Hansen says officers heard screams and gunshots Wednesday morning when they arrived at an apartment complex after receiving several 911 calls. Kenneth Alfred was targeting his former girlfriend, 56-year-old Patricia Haggard, Hansen says. She had obtained a restraining order against him. Haggard appeared to have been doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire, but she survived. Haggard's friend, 63-year-old Nancy Bosley of San Jose, died of gunshot wounds. Haggard's daughter and her daughter's boyfriend suffered serious wounds.
