Man Marries Nene Anegasaki, a Video Game Character

A man, a living, breathing, homo sapien male man, married Nene Anegasaki, a video game character from Nintendo DS game Love Plus. The man brought his Nintendo DS along with a cartridge of Love Plus to a church in Guam where flesh and technology united in holy matrimony.
The couple is planning on hosting a small reception on November 22, 2009 for close family, friends, and the internet; seriously, webcams will be used. Not shockingly the man has also invited the media, not that he's looking for attention or anything.
What do you think? Can love conquer all, even the divide of physical and virtual?

Those of you who wonder what on earth is going on in the minds of this man, or that he's sick in the mind, or that his relationship isn't real....Shame on YOU. He's found his true love, why haven't you? Because you've got a million hangups about everything. That's why. You may be hanging out with some woman who isn't everything you want because you're too afraid to treat women like market aisle products, to take control and go GET THE WOMAN YOU REALLY WANT. Why not do that and be happy? Because you're scared NOBODY will want you for being such a selfish asshole? No way, you're just gonna hate yourself for settling with some normal woman instead of some busty Asian chick who has a bigger porn folder than most guys and loves anal. And if you're a girl? Hahahahaha you gals are all so judgmental already, what with the Feminazi bullcrap leftover from the smoldering century, so your opinions about what men are like really don't count, as least according to THIS woman, you old hags. Stop trying to tell your man what to do with his money, especially if you're the type to not work at all while he makes the moolah. What about other examples of love? Hm, you know there's such thing as a three person couple, right? Three people that love each other to dickens, EQUALLY? And they can't get their marriage rights yet because people don't acknowledge more than two people being in love, apparently. Isn't that stupid as hell? Oh right, you'll just say that sort of love can't happen and that it's bound to fail, like homosexual couples raising a child. Shame on you, seriously.Hell, India is moving forward to support gay marriage alongside a proceeding bi-curious China, while America is still way back there. So go put your heads in an unwashed toilet and flush repeatedly till you understand what love really is, you oafs.

For all those who would use this example to attack same-sex marriage, the problem with this 'union' is that it could never be viewed as consensual. The videogame character would need to be shown as sentient and be able to enter into legal contracts. You can't do this with animals, children nor software.

But... huh...does the characted know this? Did she approve? And now won't other people that play the game still...play with her? Won't he feel betrayed? Is this marriage official? Can I marry my shoes? How about the person that designed the character, the daddy, did he approve? What if he dies?! Will all his belongings go to her? And if so, does that mean the company that produced the game? What if the game makes a sequel? And she's still in it, will he also be married to the Nene in the sequel? Doesn't this character have certain lines and is unable to go beyond that? Isn't it sooo limited? Could the next otaku please marry a figurine or blowup doll or a pillow? This results in too many questions.

O..k... was shocked when I heard the news... well I kind of understand his 'otaku' heart (since I am an otaku myself >.<)... Ok... he might find his true love and might as well marry her. (Nene Anegasaki.. what's so good about her anyways -.- I'd prefer someone like Hiiragi Kagami.. but that's just my opinion but ofcourse.. ANYWAYS back to the topic..) I won't reject that... but why marry in the real world? If he really loves her... he can just think that they're married.. don't need to hold a ceremony for everyone in real life to know. And he should divide the virtual world and the real world. Marry Nene all he wants... but make it virtual and find a girl that will really love him in the real world! Nene doesn't have a 'real-life' heart to say 'I love you' to him. As a fellow otaku, I admit loving anime characters for anime freaks isn't a strange thing, but don't mix the otaku world and the real world! I'm not saying that marrying the character is pathetic.. but announcing it to the world is pretty absurd, if you catch my drift. [my english isn't that good but I hope you get what i mean ^^"]
