Many Teachers 'face false claims' - William Golding Was Right.

Nearly 30% of school staff have been the subject of a false allegation of misconduct by a pupil, a survey by a teaching union suggests.

The Association of Teachers and Lecturers said false claims blighted careers and damaged private lives.

The ATL, which surveyed 1,155 support staff and teachers, said the safety of children was paramount but argued staff should not be presumed guilty.

It said in half of the cases, the claim had been immediately dismissed.

The survey of private and state school staff revealed that police were notified in 16% of cases and took no further action in 55 of the 67 cases they investigated.

Dr Mary Bousted, ATL general secretary, said school staff are "having their careers blighted by false allegations and their private lives damaged as a result of the stress".

I hate Lord of the Flies as a book. But that isn’t a surprise as I dislike horror films as well. I have always thought writing about boys’ cruelty is a bit too far as that genre is concerned. But seriously, Golding seem to know what he was talking (or writing) about and should be proclaimed as a prophet for the new Britain where little boys and girls hold all the aces in an increasing troubling world.

I was once a kid – a bright one I would like to think. My parents believed in corporal punishment and did their best as they knew how. But as a smart kid, I knew how to wriggle my way out of trouble. Sometimes my conversations with my friends consist of tales of mischievous deeds and daring escapes. You see, mischievous deeds are nothing if you still get punished for it. The most entertaining tales are those of heroic escapes from the large jaws of nemesis and the boys that could tell them earned the respect of their peers as a geniuses and leaders to look up to. Of course, I personally didn’t succeed with most of my escape plans. Mainly because my parents were aware of my capabilities and were good at foiling my plans as well as I enjoy planning them

We live in a world where we are either blind to young person’s shenanigans or we simply refuse to acknowledge they are capable of doing anything bad. Children are wise enough to deduce what works and what doesn’t. Every act that brings reward will always be performed repeatedly. And every “get out of jail” card will be played at the tightest corners.

Britain today is ruled by savvy children but dumb adults. We live in a world where the maxim: “children are vulnerable and must be protected” is believed. This idea is good but has been changed overnight by the Squealers (Animal Farm) of this world to “children are vulnerable and must be protected at all costs - even when they do wrong”.  Many teachers have left the profession because they cannot stand the helplessness they feel when stepped over by one of their pupils. Males teacher are becoming extinct. People with the love of the vocation are exiting; people teaching for the money are coming in.

While allegations made by kids need to be taken seriously, punishing a teacher before investigation is an error which shows a complete lack of wisdom. This mistake grants much satisfaction to the child – especially if the allegation is false. Children of Britain had comprehended how much power they have and have been using it well. Parents are not helping as whenever an allegation is made, the first this some do is to go to the school and report the case. From there they go to a lawyer, then to a journalist, and declare to the world: I want Mr So or Miss That fired!

The flawed notion of “guilty until proven innocent” is contrary to everything the modern world stands for. This idea needs to be addressed as it is one of the most powerful trends for the production of manipulative children who later grow up to be inept parents and maladjusted adults of this world.  Not as if we don’t have them in abundance already.
