Mark Wahlberg Says he would have Saved Flight 93 on 9/11
Here’s to taking egotistical to a new level: Mark Wahlberg says that if he had been on United Flight 93 on 9/11, he would have single handedly taken it back and landed it safely.
Seems easy enough for a civil hero without a pilot’s license… in a movie. Mark Wahlberg apparently lives his life viewing everything as an action-packed film, disappointed he didn’t get to play the hero on September 11, 2001 during Flight 93’s journey into the World Trade Center.
In the February issue of Men's Journal, Wahlberg told interviewer Erik Hedegaard, "If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn't have went down like it did," Wahlberg says. "There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, 'OK, we're going to land somewhere safely, don't worry.'”
In hindsight, we've all wondered what it would have been like to be on the plane and what we might have done to help, but Wahlberg’s statement was uncalled for. TMZ spoke with Deena Burnett-Bailey, whose husband Thomas Burnett called her during the flight saying, "I know we're going to die. There's three of us who are going to do something about it." The widow says "Does Mark Wahlberg have a pilot's license? Then I think hindsight is 20/20 and it's insignificant to say what you would have done if you weren't there. "
Harvey Levin tweets “I can't believe Mark Wahlberg said he could have saved one of the 9/11 planes if he were on it. It's pissing off victims' families”.
