Taking a leaf from 2002's explosive Taraf de Haidouks and Rabih Abou-Khalil pairing, Brighton Festival presents another exclusive music double-header.
The one and only Original Kocani Orkestra is a high-octane Gypsy wedding band from Macedonia, which made its name on the soundtrack to Emir Kusturica's seminal film Time of the Gypsies. Led by composer, arranger and turbocharged trumpeter 'King' Naat Veliov, this pocket orchestra of cornets, trumpets, tubas and accordions unleashes a musical cyclone of untamed Romany dances and Balkan swing.
Currently enjoying cult fame alongside fellow musical nomads Beirut and Calexico, Albuquerque's A Hawk and A Hacksaw is Jeremy Barnes (accordion, vocals and drums) and Heather Trost (violin, vocals). Joined by a quartet of Budapest's finest Gypsy musicians,
