Does the United States now elect slackers who abuse their privilege of representing this nation by NOT fulfilling their duties in Congress, so they can run for higher office? Or do complacent voters just neglect these facts and further contribute to this compounded problem by simply turning their cheek the other way? Pretty disgusting if you ask me either way- that any U.S. Congressman or U.S. Senator has the impudence to "expect" from American citizens to respect them and their potential future leadership in higher office, when in turn they do NOT deserve the current Congressional seat they are occupying by not performing their existing Constitutional obligation... NOT consequential enough for complacent voters is anyone's guess.

How about putting Opinion at the front of the piece.

I agree, can you please add 'opinion' to either the headline or at the beginning of the piece. Thanks!

Just curious on your "opinion" why McCain missed more votes than Tim Smith who had an operation on his brain.
Getting past your defense of the aging myth makes me wonder if you are a McCain operative or just a thinking individual that weighs all the info before you venture judgment on controversial topics that greatly effect people's lives?

danglingwrangler, I like this story. It's good stuff.
I will say that despite being an Obama Supporter - I worry that ALL the candidates are missing the votes and their respective duties. In most cases, missing even 1 vote can be too much.
Thanks for reminding us that these candidates ARE still working for us in congress - AND missing votes - regardless of the party stand.
I do disagree about McCain being a coward, however.

In this modern era of technology we have the ability to modernize the Senate (and Congress) voting system. There is absolutely no reason for any representative to "have" to mis a vote.
The record should always show one of three

so...to this story I say it is my opinion that it is the system not the man

Do you think that the Senior Senator from Arizona John McCain doesn't understand the technology to vote or not understand the job requirement representing constituents for the past 25 years. It really must be something - the Senate is NOT a Saturday morning cartoon, although some members have been know to act out their inner child on C-Span.
