My Chemical Romance Protest
It's very emotional being a fan of My Chemical Romance. You have to fight for your melodramatic emo youth tribe. You have to fight against those who don't understand your pain. And when The Media tries to convince the world around you that your pain is part of a "suicidal cult", you have to take to the streets.  You have to be polite. You have to pick up your litter. And, whatever happens, try not to cry.
Hundreds of black-clad fans of "emo" band My Chemical Romance are planning to march on the Daily Mail's headquarters in Kensington, London, to protest at what they see as an unjustified media attack on the group and its fans.

The fans, furious at a string of articles that they claim wrongly portray followers of the emo youth tribe as a "suicide cult", plan to stage a peaceful protest outside Northcliffe House on May 31.

Organisers said yesterday that they had already signed up 300 protesters and hoped to at least double that. They urged protesters to be polite and pick up their litter.

Being a journalist myself, it always upsets me to see tabloid media in action. MCR fans are incredibly dedicated and some of the best fans I've had the opportunity to meet. People love to label others, especially when they have something the labelers don't......appreciation for one another.

You make a great point. I was just having a little fun playing on the 'emo' labeling that MCR fans have unfortunately had to defend. I think it's amazing that fans of any band would organize in solidarity against those who would seek to shame or deride them.

_Smyle

Yes, that's truth.
Nowadays, though, almost everything can fit into the 'Emo' can, the media loves the labelling.

Or they could just lighten up and make their case by NOT killing themselves or threatening to kill themselves.  That works too.  Duh!

HOW MANY TIMES WILL THE ARMY TELL EVERYONE THAT MCR/ MCR *BAND* IS NOT EMO?! this is one way of showing that we support mcr, we care for them as much as WE CARE for everyone who is with us COMPARED to what others have to give us... they gave us sharp words some cold hearts couldn't take... we are with PEACE for we were given guidelines and we have no intention to go to jail...

I am an MCR fan and a soldier of the MCRmy... I just want to say what I think...

maybe the army is pushing too hard on themselves but it's one way for the army to show that there's is a living presence behind the hurt, the oppressed, and the outcast... that's the shadow of our living army! who feel the depression and we find MCR the one who made us realize that life's worth living as long as they're here...

Other people would like to put a stop to this protest for they think that it will give a bad reputation for My Chemical Romance... I know they understand what we think... yeah... my chemical romance knows what the army has decided to do... mikey [bassist] told us to remember that it's a peaceful protest [ I found it here: http://www.mikeywayonline.net/ ] ... everything's planned... i understand that they think the protest will give MCR a bad name and that we are letting those who put us down laugh harder 'til they choke to death... I found that here: http://community.livejournal.com/chemicalromance/3181768.html

there are many reasons why people will go and why people will oppose... some do it for justice and some for the love of MCR... I support this for those who care about these people are affected...

i can see both sides but the protest is already planned... i hope no one goes to Heaven... you know what I mean... don't take that line literally... have you watched in youtube about the protest? here's the link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ggv8nmaz5Xg

that's where I got the strength and idea what to say...

REMEMBER: IT'S A PEACEFUL PROTEST! :] AND AFTER,NO MORE DISCRIMINATION TO EVERYONE!

take care always!

Be peaceful, protest and then go home.  The world has real problems to get depressed about.  Millions in the world are starving, dying of disease and victims of horrendous violence.  And you MCR fans are all drpressed about what, exactly?  Something in your nice, safe middle-class life is not perfect?  Did you girlfriend dump you?  And your parents don't understand your pain.  That is because they experienced everything that you are now experiencing and made it through just fine.  They didn't wimp out and try to kill themselves.  They sucked it up and got on with life.  You ever wonder why there are no old MCR fans?  Because once you get a real life you don't have time for wallowing in self-pitty.  They gotta go to work to buy your food, provide a roof over your head.  And when they get home they don't need to hear how hard done by you are.  So, suck it up.  No one cares.

i agree with you...

but i think the protest it's just too much, i mean, it's okay to disagree with people that's telling your fav band is linked to suicide cults or shit like that... but does the band even cares or do they even know about all of this?

mmhhn i don't know , it's like the teenage fans, they get so intense about ... c'mon ... nothing

It's so like the media to put a label upon something that they do not understand.
"Suicide cult", to my knowledge and understanding suicide is the first thing
this band is against and works hard to get their word out to the people who listen.
This band does in no way support the ending of lives they want to help save them.
I think this is great and if I didn't live in the U.S. I too would join in.
Protesters do it peacefully and please be safe.

I think this is a great photo. I think what really catches the viewers eyes is the room and the light contrast thats in it.
