Melanie Griffith Checks Routinely Checks into Rehab

Melanie Griffith, spouse of Antonio Banderas, has checked herself into rehab at Cirque Lodge in Utah for an apparently routine stay. Griffith has been in rehab before, being treated for addiction cocaine and alcohol in 1988 and again in 2000 for painkillers following a neck injury.

The actress is reportedly staying at Cirque Lodge in Utah, however her stay is said to be routine.

"She is there to reinforce her commitment to stay healthy," her rep confirmed. "This is part of a routine plan that was designed between her and her doctors years ago."

Griffith took to her website to talk about the issue and thanked her husband and family for their support and understanding.

"Overcoming addictions is tough but it can be made easier if you have someone that can offer support," Griffith one wrote on her Web site. “My husband and family supported me so much through this journey and continue to do so."

Griffith went to rehab in 1988 to fight addictions to alcohol and cocaine. She went again in 2000 for treatment for an addiction to painkillers. The publicist says this latest visit is part of a plan developed years ago between Griffith and her doctors. Griffith needs a cash advance for therapy it won't stop the rest of us from having to get up and go to work.
