Memphis Jessica Helping To Feed The Homeless In Vegas For Thanksgiving
As I got off the bus at Sahara and the Las Vegas Strip, I saw an innocent young lady at the bus stop holding a small can with a message on the front of it. I stopped and asked her about her venture there on the busy Strip in the midst of so many tourists and locals coming and going.
In a delightful Southern accent she told me her name was Jessica and she was collecting money so that her United Pentecostal Church would be able to feed 500 homeless folks on Thanksgiving. It seems the Salvation Army had over 1000 sign up and her church volunteered to take responsibility for half of them this year.
Jessica, a mother from Memphis with two young children, was so determined to raise as much as she could that she had just spent the last two days walking up and down the Strip gathering funds. She mentioned the fact that her feet were really tired so she had decided to just stand at this Sahara bus stop on this day.
As I inquired more about Jessica's life, I soon found out that she currently is dealing with the fact that she has Lupus. Anyone who knows what Lupus is can tell you that it is a miracle Jessica could be so active in her goal to help others.
She also works a full time job at a time share booth in the Planet Hollywood Hotel on the Strip. The workers at the Planet Hollywood Hotel heard about her desire to help the homeless and are taking up a generous collection to help Jessica meet that goal by next Thursday.
Of course, Christmas is just a few weeks away and the homeless should have a dinner on that special day too. So check out the phone number in the video and maybe call to make a donation with your credit card. You will indeed be blessed as you take part in Giving Thanks at Thanksgiving.
This year may really be hard for a lot of folks who had a home last year this time. So wherever you live, go out and be the "JESSICA" in your city. We here in Las Vegas are thrilled that Jessica and 50 others from her church are out working to make the Thanksgiving meal special for those who need hope in their lives. God bless Jessica and GOD BLESS AMERICA!
