Nearly 13,000 people gathered on the streets of Mexico City on Saturday, what would have been Michael Jackson's 51st birthday, in an attempt to break the Guinness world record of most people dancing to Thriller simultaneously.
Organizers of the event are certain it was the largest event of its kind, but it will take a week for the Guinness Book of World Records to decide if the city was successful in breaking the record. The current record was set earlier this year in Williamsburg, Virginia, when 242 people danced.
Hildago claimed 12,937 people danced Saturday in front of Mexico City's Monument of the Revolution, led by a Michael Jackson impersonator wearing a red-and-gold sequined jacket.
