Environmentalism
Michael Crichton, the author of Jurassic Park and a multitude of other science fiction books, has died unexpectedly during a fight with cancer.
"While the world knew him as a great storyteller that challenged our preconceived notions about the world around us -- and entertained us all while doing so -- his wife Sherri, daughter Taylor, family and friends knew Michael Crichton as a devoted husband, loving father and generous friend who inspired each of us to strive to see the wonders of our world through new eyes," his family tells ET. "He did this with a wry sense of humor that those who were privileged to know him personally will never forget."

I've been a fan of his work from an early age, growing up with books such as The Andromeda Strain, Congo, and Sphere which only exacerbated my fear of raptors, deep sea objects, and grey goo. His stories infected several generations of thinkers, writers and creators with the idea that anything is possible.

RIP Michael Crichton.

Jason Sanders, I like this story. It's good stuff.

Is there some reason "unexpectedly" is in quotation fingers? Is there anything to indicate anything other than natural causes? If not, the quotation fingers probably aren't necessary.

Also carried by Fox News who had a brief blurb:

"Jurassic Park" author and "ER" creator Michael Crichton died Tuesday at age 66, according to his Web site.

The novelist passed away in Los Angeles after a private battle with cancer. His family said the death was unexpected.
Regards, ~Michael

Thanks for the GS and the comment, mgmirkin! I took off the quotes because you were right about them not being needed.

Thanks for letting us know. An interesting author who proposed unpopular views on global warming, etc.

This story made me feel very sad indeed,

I have enjoyed Michael Crichton`s books for many years and my favourite will always be  "Jurassic Park " because it really made me think long and hard about life.

He was a wonderful Author and I am sure he will be sadly missed by Millions of People.

Thanks for the story. I liked Congo and the first part of the Jurassic Park very much. I think most people may know him as the creator behind ER.

Great Personality God Bless him.

His last novel that I read was 'State of Fear'. There were lots of references seeming to disprove global warming and the consequences of global warming. I enjoyed the story very much. He'll be missed.
