In a bizarre coincidence, 70s icons Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett are now tragically linked. Fawcett passed away on June 25, 2009 after a long struggle with rectal cancer.

Hours later pop star Michael Jackson was hospitalized due to a cardiac arrest.  Early on TMZ, The LA Times and ABC News stated that Jackson had died. It was later confirmed by Fred Corral of the LA Coroners Office that Michael Jackson was dead.

Fawcett rose to prominence in the 1970s after starring in the hit ABC TV series Charlie's Angels and films like Logan's Run and Capricorn One. The Farrah Fawcett red swimsuit poster became an iconic image burned into the minds of teenage boys around the world.

Fawcett's marriage to actor Six Million Man star Lee Majors was a match made in tabloid heaven, a celebrity marriage that presaged modern high-powered celebrity couples.

Jackson shot to fame as the lead singer of the Jackson 5. The Jackson 5 were a pop culture phenomenon, scoring several Top 10 singles and albums. The band was also the first African-American group to become genuine teen pop idols. Long before the boy bands of today, the Jackson 5 appealed to young audiences; the group even had its own Saturday morning cartoon.

By the end of the decade, Jackson was recording solo, eventually becoming the best selling artist of all time.

Fawcett and Jackson did have a loose personal connection. In an interview with journalist Martin Bashir Jackson talked about dating actress Tatum O'Neal as a teenager. O'Neal is the daughter of Fawcett's ex-husband Ryan O'Neal.
