Michael Jackson Will from 2002 Surfaces, Joe Jackson Left Out
CNN is reporting that a Last Will and Testament for Michael Jackson prepared in 2002 has been found. Londell McMillan, lawyer for the Jackson family says that the Will is seven years old meaning it may not accurately reflect Michael Jackson's current financial affairs or wishes.
A will from Michael Jackson written in 2002 has been located, according to Jackson family lawyer Londell McMillan.
Reports on the details of the Will are spotty but one thing is clear, Michael Jackson did not intend to leave any of his estate to his father Joe Jackson as recently as 2002. The Will was drafted by long-time Michael Jackson attorney John Branca and may be filed with the courts as early as Friday, July 3.
Yesterday, parents Joe and Katherine Jackson sought control of Michael's estate, claiming in court documents that the King of Pop died without a will. Hours later, one drafted in 2002 surfaced.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the document—which will no doubt be the centerpiece of a lengthy and ferocious legal battle in months to come—divides the superstar's estate among his mother, his three children (Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael II) and at least one charity.
It's unclear what custody arrangements, if any, Jackson made for his three children. But a court ruling yesterday gave temporary guardianship to Katherine.
At least one aspect of the will does appear to be clear: Joe Jackson wasn't named as an heir.
According to documents obtained by the Associated Press, as of March 31, 2007 Michael Jackson's reported net worth is said to have been $236 million US. Recent estimates put the value of Michael Jackson's assets at $567.6 million US.
AP: Michael Jackson claimed net worth of $236 million as of March 31, 2007, documents show.
The documents offer the clearest account yet on the state of Jackson's financial empire, which is expected to become the focus of a legal battle between the singer's family and creditors.
Jackson had $567.6 million in assets, including his Neverland Ranch, his share of the Sony/ATV Music Publishing catalog that includes the rights to songs by the Beatles, and an assortment of cars, antiques and collectibles, according to a statement of financial condition prepared by Washington-based accounting firm Thompson, Cobb, Bazilio & Associates.

Mr McMillan,
I was pleased to see you put Anderson Cooper in his place last night about the ineuendos of the reporting of MJ. I believe people are only out to hurt his image I am so upset that I don't watch CNN anymore because I believe that the media and all the stupid shit that they have reported on Michael Jackson was all out of Jealousy.
Thank you for being his friend, and confidant. I am sure God is looking down on you. I am sure Michael thanks you also for sticking up for the ICON that he was.
