Michael Jackson's will has surfaced and is reportedly currently in the hands of his lawyer. Reports are saying that Jackson's lawyer intends to file the will with the court.

Jackson's attorney, John Branca, holds the copy of the will. Branca believes that the copy he holds is the most current of the numerous wills Jackson may or may not have. The Jackson family does not have a copy of the will.

John Branca
was Jackson's attorney during the brokering of his 1985 purchase of The Beatles' publishing catalogue; the two disbanded in 2006 but reconnected just three weeks ago.

Why is he not releasing the will to Michael's own family.  That's just plain mean.

It's not mean - the attorney is doing everything required by law.  Once filed with the courts, each family member gets sent a copy for review.  There's nothing "mean" here - this is appropriate way things are done.

Come on, now.  Michael wasn't all that close to his family.  The attorney had a copy of the will and has now provided it to the court.  Get a grip. Nothing new here.  Nothing mean about it.

There is nothing mean about it. That is smart busness. You have to realize there are a lot of peole tha would love to get their hands on the royalties that Micheal owns not just family. the lawyer is doing it by the book. All he is require if he choses is to advise them that there is a will and the court will contact them with the particulars leading up to the reading of the will.

I think it's best that this is handled very carefully. Bigmax50 is right. A LOT of people would like to get their hands on that loot. I don't blame mother Katherine Jackson for rushing into the foray either because let's be honest here, #1 that was her son and #2 she has legitimate fears that MJ's fortune (whatever is left) will end up being dispersed to undeserving people. I don't think greed has much to do with it. I would have done the same thing on his children's behalf. Michael's children should come first, absolutely. Right is right. I believe that's what Michael would have wanted. I do believe that nanny "Grace" - whom the children recognize as their mother, should be granted temporary, if not permanent custody. She has raised them all from infants. The children only know her as "mom". Debbie Rowe signed papers and took millions to remain out of the children's lives. By taking that money, she forfiets her rights to those children, who don't really know her anyway. She's been bitten by the greed bug as of late.
