Michael Jackson's death was predicted by one of his biographers.

Ian Halperin made headlines last year and early this year, both in Britain's The Sun and the US's In Touch, that Jackson would be dead within six months, alleging the pop star had been suffering a rare protein disorder called Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency for 20 years.

According to Halerpin's research, Jackson's condition was worsening. Halperin also claimed the singer was suffering emphysema and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Jacko's secret was revealed by his biographer Ian Halperin, who declared: "He needs a lung transplant, but may be too weak to go through with it. He also has emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, which his doctors have had a lot of trouble stopping.

"It's the bleeding that's the most problematic part. It could kill him."

Shortly after the claims were made, Jackson announced his 50-date concert series at the O2 theatre.

Mr. Jackson's associates subsequently denied that the singer had the protein deficiency and said Mr. Halperin was fishing for “cheap publicity.” Nevertheless, Mr. Halperin, who says he's spent six years researching Mr. Jackson's biography, has persisted.

Now, Transit Press will publish Halperin's book, Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson, in hardcover in Canada.

So far, the rights haven't been successfully secured in the U.S.

Mr. Halperin himself wasn't talking Friday, except to say that the timing of the book's publication shouldn't be construed as a rush job. “I timed it because I knew around this time he was a candidate to die. I'm being totally up-front about that.(His Montreal publisher also said Friday it always planned to have the book out before the concerts.) ”

Halerpin is currently facing controversy over his latest book, an unauthorized biography of Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte.

He is also co-author of the controversial book, Love & Death: The Murder of Kurt Cobain.

This is so weird because I just read Ravi Dixit's story posted on this back in December, and how odd it is that what he described is so similar to what happened.

So sad he suffered for 20 years with this.

Ian Halperin is ridiculous. His has been caught for the many lies. And just for the fact that he "knew" Michael didnt have much longer to live, that tells us he knew that Michael had the perscrition drugs given to him all along, and he didnt do a thing about, and basically he's saying he could have prevented Michael Jacksons death, but chose not to for the sake of his book.

This man is out for money and trying to destroy a man who has spent the last 20 years destroying himself. He does not need any more help from the people around him or his fans. He is gone now so that all the creeps will crawl out of the woodwork to make a dollar since his death. Let the poor soul of this talented genius alone. All geniuses are usu. eccentric; it is just the way the brain works.
