Michael Jackson, the now 50-year-old 'King of Pop', made thousands of fans wait for over an hour on Thursday, before he stepped to the stage for a brief message to his fans announcing his "final concerts in London ever"10 shows at the O2 Arena set for July 2009.

Here is the full list of Michael Jackson's London concert dates

Pre-sale tickets to the concerts can be ordered through michaeljacksonlive.com and will be made available to the general public at 10:00am of Friday, March 13, 2009.

In Jackson's brief speech, he said simply ""This is it. My final performances in London. The final curtain call."

Thousands of screaming fans chanted "we love you, Michael." Jackson responded, "I love you too".

And that really was it. Jackson left the stage shortly after.

Earlier Thursday, posters distributed through the city's underground stations — in advance of the official press conference — stole some of Jacko's thunder by confirming that, indeed, Michael Jackson will be playing a series of comeback shows in London this summer, as expected.

The run will be more limited than expected, however, as Jackson is only set to peform 10 shows at the 02 Arena in July 2009.

NowPublic will be following Jackson's official press conference at 4pm London GMT, which is being streamed live at michaeljackson.com.

Michael Jackson was due to make a “special announcement” in London this afternoon, but has had his thunder stolen after posters were put up throughout the underground revealing he will play 10 concerts at the 02 arena this July.

The red promotional posters, featuring the onetime King of Pop in his trademark trilby, appeared on Tube trains today - officially announcing the capital’s worst-kept secret. Rumours had been swirling even before his publicist revealed, earlier this week, that he would make an announcement today.

Jackson last performed in the UK at the 2006 World Music Awards, however, "he sang only a few lines of 'We Are The World'.

This will be the first official series of big concerts for MJ since the 2005 conclusion of his legal battle over alleged child sex abuse charges, for which he was acquitted.

I can't believe it's the same guy who gifted the world with the awesomeness that is Thriller*. In the meantime, his personal life has totally eclipsed the music.

(* Still the best music video of all time, in my opinion, and nothing else is close)

He's a freak show.  His nose is falling off and he can't be around young children, how does that make him anything but a pervert?

I feel sorry for him.  He was a fantastic entertainer, back in the day.  Now he's nothing but a pathetic has-been.  Poor Michael.

Sad and Strange but undeniably interesting and talented. Not sure he can hold a candle to himself in his younger days any longer and a concert might not turn out to be a great idea.

Well, well well,  so Michael Jackson is finally coming out of seclusion.

People really need to be able to separate 'feelings' from 'talent'.  Anyone is entitled to still call him a 'molester,' is that's truly how they feel, but a 'has been', I don't think that's going to be the case.

My kids grew up adoring Michael Jackson in the "Thriller" era, in fact we had the video for the longest time.

These next series of concerts will tell us if he still has talent or not.

An open mind is a wonderful thing.

Michael is always gonna be the king of pop. People have done worse things to themselves, but its no biggie cuz they aren't famous. So what if his nose is falling off and he looks like an alien from outta space? The person inside is what matters. And the talent too. I think he is truly gifted and will make it to the top again!

I must admit I'm happy for Michael that the demand has been so huge. Bit of a pathetic shambles by the organisers though when the site went down on the first day. Yes, a high demand will put pressure on your website. But hello, this isn't 1996. Mind you it is being held at a venue run by a mobile phone company - not the best at communications are they.

I never believed all that "Michael touched me !!" crap by a couple of money-grabbing, insidious little brats clearly egged on by their dollar sign eyed parents, but what fails to impress me about Michael live is the known fact he MIMES. Even if it's not all songs - should it be ANY ??? For an artist of that kind of status it's not excuseable.....well at least it's not if you really have the vocal strength to pull off a complete "LIVE" show.
