Mick Jagger Turns 68, Goes Clubbing

Mick Jagger, legendary frontman of the Rolling Stones, is celebrating his 68th birthday on July 26.

Mick Jagger's girlfriend is American fashion designer L'Wren Scott. Apparently she's cool with Sir Mick partying with Joss Stone: Jagger asked his Superheavy bandmate to join him for some late-night clubbing.

We couldn't help but notice that Mick Jagger did not get a Google Doodle for his birthday. It's just as well-- there'd be no living with him after that.

Check out this Washington Post review of the Stones' first stateside tour from 1965: the US just wasn't ready for them yet. Turns out that Steve Tyler was in the all-too-near future. Rock 'n' roll had arrived in earnest.

Actually, the above paragraph is fairly accurate today, but the rest of the review is a must-read, if only for its short-sightedness. Then again, archive footage shown in Shine a Light had Mick Jagger optimistically gauging the Stones' lifespan at "at least another year".

The Rolling Stones have been together for 49 years. They've yet to play Glastonbury, though: apparently that was meant to happen this year, but it fell through.
