Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson Join 'Iron Man 2'

Mickey Rourke will play Whiplash in the upcoming Iron Man sequel. The character will use elements from existing Marvel villain Crimson Dynamo, whom Rourke was previously reported to be playing. Also, Scarlett Johansson will portray Black Widow.

We hold Rourke in our pop-cultural short-term memory for his nuanced performance in The Wrestler, but let's not forget his butt-kicking action turn in Sin City.

When Rourke and Robert Downey, Jr. aren't bashing the crap out of each other, they can compare Golden Globes.

Rourke will also get a hand in character development, along with director Jon Favreau and screenwriter Justin Theroux.
