Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Baptist minister, declared next Wednesday, August 1st, "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" to support a business "whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values."

When he ran for president in 2008, Mike Huckabee spoke about the good eating habits that led to his 105-pound weight loss, and he often touted his book "Quit Digging Your Grave With a Knife and Fork."

Now Huckabee has found some of those pounds he lost, and he has a new message: He wants Americans to eat more fast food.

"The goal is simple," he announced this week, calling on Americans to help those who honor "the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick-fil-A on Wednesday, Aug. 1."

"Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day" already has over 314,000 RSVPs as of Friday.

Also, if you're going to attend the appreciation day, you might as well join in on heterosexual awareness month.

Huckabee is thus forcing Americans to take a stand: If they eat at Chick-fil-A, they are affirming Christian principles and opposing gay marriage. But what about millions of people who don't wish to make such a statement and merely like chicken nuggets (preferably with ranch or honey-mustard sauce) and waffle fries?

For those who oppose Chick-Fil-A day, go and stand outside the doors of Chick-Fil-A and kiss someone of the same sex.

Emily, you might want to actually read the Chick-Fil-A menu in its entirety, as they offer many healthy food options--more so than most fast food outlets.  The entire premise of this article is ridiculously juvenile!  Can you expound on your claim that Mr. Huckabee is "forcing Americans to take a stand"?  Just as no one can be "forced" to attend a gay pride parade simply because someone organizes one--no one is going to "force" you to support Chick-Fil-A.  Why does it seem you are angered over the rights of others with whom you disagree?  Too bad you cannot see the hypocrisy you are attempting to advance.

BTW--just so there is no confusions:  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RSVP in order to show your support on Wednesday.  I believe the author was inaccurately referring to how many "Likes" their Facebook page has.And for those who might follow the author's advice and just show up to "protest". . .there are no permits to protest on privately owned property, and there are laws against loitering.  So, unless you plan to make a purchase, you might as well stay home!

I'm AMAZED at how just it is to declare, promote, protest and otherwise state your beliefs...  UNLESS those beliefs are even remotely Christian!  If you suggest to somebody that they souldn't cheat on their spouse, shouldn't dispose of an "unwanted" pregnancy, shouldn't use drugs "recreationaly" or practice homosexuality, then you are clearly intolerant, unkind, uneducated and generally "fair game" for the very kind of malicious targeting that was previously decried as wrong and cruel.  And it seems like the origin of this hypocricy is simply whether or not you want to participate in the above activities.  Relativism at its finest...

I am so glad we have businesses like Chick-Fil-A!  Go Chick-Fil-A!  Of course we are going to oppose gay marriage.  You know what Emily, more than half of Americans do also! This country was founded under one God and we will continue to believe and live by Biblical principles.  And your article needs a lot of improvements.  See everyone there on August 1st!  We all love Chick-Fil-A!

I do not hate homosexuals, but  I DO hate the manner in which they behave.  They believe just because someone disagrees with them, the world is falling apart.  They then attempt to demean you by calling you names as if you will whither and melt away with shame.  No matter how they try, two males or two females cannot make a baby.  They may adopt or have sperm installed in their reproduction assembly, but it still takes two different cells to tango.  I am a Roman Catholic and proud to eat at CFA, without any apologies what so ever.  If they wish to call me a homophobe, I must remind them, I fear no queer.

Too bad for too many little boys that too many of your church officials and priests were not as righteous as you.
