The February 2011 issue of O magazine hits newsstands next week with Mindy Kaling and Patricia Heaton among the featured stars in its pages.

The "Office" actress-writer-producer chatted with the talk show queen's mag about beauty and style while the "Everybody Loves Raymond" star talked about overcoming her acting  fears.

Highlights from the "O" interview are as follows:

MINDY KALING

Best COMPLIMENT

I still think of myself as a chubby 12-year-old so when my boyfriend says, "You're hot," I smile. That's what peoples say about Sports Illustrated models, so hearing it makes me feel like I've pulled off this total scam."

Best HAPPY ACCIDENT

"As a kid I would fall asleep during Saturday Night Live and wake up during Showtime at the Apollo. It introduced me to an entire world of black comedians and musicians - people who became my heroes."

Best BEAUTY SECRET

"I take pictures of myself before I go out. I don't trust mirrors, but I'll trust an un-retouched photograph."

Best WAY TO END AN ARGUMENT

"Take a time-out, then watch YouTube videos of kittens falling asleep. Who would want to fight after that?"

Best STYLE STAPLE

"I've always loved leather pants on rock stars, but I don't have the figure to pull them off. Recently I got a pair of loose, slouchy black leather shorts, which I wear with wool tights. They're comfortable and effortless, and they look so downtown."

PATRICIA HEATON

Fear of failure

"Acting had always been my identity, so when my career wasn't panning out, I felt worthless I couldn't figure out my place in the world and was terrified to admit to my family - and myself - that I might fail."

Helping others:

"I have always believed that when you're feeling sorry for yourself, the best thing to do is help someone else. So when I saw a flier at my church for a four-day volunteer project at an orphanage in a Mexican border town, I signed up."

Aha! Moment:

"I've never worked so hard in my life...When I returned home I felt relaxed and whole, like my spirit had gotten a massage. I realized that a life spent serving others would be just as fulfilling as acting. I   knelt down in my bedroom and prayed, 'God if you want me to go in a different direction, just show me. I will follow.'"

Beliefs overcame:

"My belief that I couldn't hold my head up if I wasn't a famous actor had been paralyzing me. Every audition had felt so weighted. Before each I would think, I'm too fat, I'm wearing the wrong thing. What will I do if I don't' get his part?

Her big break:

"But after my time in Mexico, all of that negativity and second-guessing disappeared. Soon enough, my career started picking up. Two month after my trip, I landed my first big role, in the TV series Thirtysomething. After nine years of struggle, success finally came to me once I stopped worrying so much about finding it."
