This year's 52 Miss America contestants haven't just been getting judged, they've been getting zinged in "Miss America: Reality Check," a four-part reality series leading up to Saturday's 8 p.m. EST crowning on TLC.The series, whose final installment airs Friday, has tracked the transformation of beauty queens from old-fashioned "Pageant Pattys," as some in the pageant world say, to modern "It girls."

Two things I don't like: beauty pageants and reality TV! These are desperate times for the institution that is Miss America, and they are hoping that, by leveraging the continued popularity of "nonscripted entertainment", they can hang onto a bit of relevance.

American TV has become pathetic! TV has sunk lower than low and it is amazing that other channels have picked up viewers due to networks and their crappy shows. I hear more people, nowadays, talking about Dsicovery Channel, TLC, and others that show quality shows. People I know knock the 60's, 70's and 80's television but we had quality shows to watch and entertain us. Now we have shows that seem to dumb us down more and more with each new reality show. I have found myself watching more shows on Discovery Channel and HD TV than ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX. My partner and I have seen our DVD collection grow each month as we purchase shows we loved as kids, and good movies; to entertain us. News channels have come to tell us what we should do and think, when news channels used to report and allow us to make up our own mind. Have Americans become stupid? To me, the answer is yes and it shows when I watch TV and talk to people face to face ... sad. Very sad! Time we all change TV.
My own feelings.
