Miss Universe Calls Guantanamo Bay 'Relaxing, Calm and Beautiful'
In case you missed it, Miss Universe visited the U.S.-run military facility in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba a few days ago and, much to the surprise of her blog-reading public, she had "a loooot of fun!".
In a cooing, fun-filled blog post, the reigning Miss Universe -- aka Miss Venezuela Dayana Mendoza -- discussed her recent tour of Guantánamo Bay with seemingly genuine pleasure and utterly effusive praise.
Noting not only that the water in the bay is "soooo beautiful!" but also that the detainees camps and jails were "very interesting" Mendoza concluded her brief account with this slogan-worthy zinger:
Unsurprisingly, this flood of Gitmo praise won't be doing her any favours with the current Venezuelan leadership, especially Hugo Chavez.
Mr. Chavez, who is close to the Cuban leadership, may now be rethinking the praise he heaped on Ms. Mendoza on Venezuelan television last year, when she returned to Caracas with the crown

How is it not better to be there than, let's say, any of the "gladiator school" prisons, such as San Quentin, where nearly every couple of days someone is killed?
Lock them up in a POW camp in Afghanistan and let the Afghanis take care of them. We will provide the cash.

Nothing objectionable. Who knows if I might have felt the same.
