I woke up in an unfamiliar place. It was earlier in the morning than I normally see, but the thought of spending another minute in a bed that looked like it had been retrieved from the city dump shook me enough to get going. My head pounded. Where was I? Who's bed was this?

The house was empty. I figured that was probably for the best. I stepped outside and the sun hit me with the force of a major league slugger hitting an intruder that had just stolen his stash of steroids. I needed to wake up. Normally I rely on the coffee house on my street for this. A small place, simply named "Joe's," it's as run down as the senile owner. Their coffee tastes like the concentrated bath water of a thousand refugees. Nothing wakes you up like that putrid liquid burning your mouth.

I found a chain shop a couple blocks away from where I had woken up. It wasn't my style, but it would have to do. I stared at the menu. It was a blur to me. A seemingly infinite number of options. I couldn't be bothered to decipher them, so I pointed and took my chances.
