Celebrations, parties and having a good time are all reasons why I enjoy digging up festivals. Being that the summer months are a great time for good-weather exploration, sharing the knowledge about your backyard fun is a great way to let everyone know about your wonderful corner of the world. I'm looking forward to taking a year off and wandering the world and in a way, writing these stories help direct my interests and planning. Any help and tips for my future journeys would be great!

Today's showcase.

  • Le Festival de Lanaudiere - ending on August 3rd

The festival has been around since 1977 and it's history is owed to the Director of Centre Culturel de Joliette for inviting the Montreal Symphony Orchestra to perform. Take a look at their extensive list of artists and remember to check it out if you're in the area!

The Festival had by now become Quebec's most important music festival, ranking with the finest festivals of similar nature in Europe and the United States. Its summertime season provided artistic and cultural energy for the province. The Festival reached even greater heights in 1988. "If one wants to hear great music during the summer," noted Father Lindsay, "one must come to Joliette."

Known to locals as simply 'The Festival', from late July until early September is when Edinburgh is at its busiest, buzziest and for many, its best. Several festivals coincide over a frenzied few weeks when it seems the city never sleeps and all the world is a stage.

Founded in 1947 and still going strong, the Edinburgh International Festival is possibly the most exciting, innovative and accessible Festival of the performing arts in the world, comprising dance, music, theatre and opera.

I would love to hear from anyone with info on attractions and spectacles in their city. If you have been to these festivals what did you think?

I appreciate the offer to publish my photos, but the Edinburg festival the pictures are from is Edinburg, VA not Scotland.  If I ever get to the Scotland festival, you can be sure that I'll take pictures there!
