Lucas offered a glimpse into the latest creation in his sci-fi universe at the theatre-owners' convention ShoWest on Thursday, showing a sequence from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a computer-animated movie due in theatres on August 15.

It will be followed by a TV series of the same name, to air on the Cartoon Network and TNT in the United States this fall.

The movie came about as an afterthought while Lucas was developing an animated TV show of the same name. That show debuts this fall, but Lucas figured it was ripe for big-screen treatment, too.
I saw some of the original Clone Wars episodes (each were something like one minute long, and were pretty fun to watch. I'm not sure about Anakin Skywalker having an apprentice, though, since that's a fairly large departure continuity-wise from the main story. Lucas has, in the past, declared that he is not bound to narratives created via fan fiction (fanfic), but what about his own stories?

... Then again, George Lucas released the revisionist version of Star Wars in which Greedo shoots first...
Real version (Han's a scoundrel)
Greedo-as-aggressor version (Han is acting in "self-defense")
